Diaspora 2018
We all created cards for the tarot card performances.
I was part of the structures group; at first I thought I wouldn't be doing much due to the fact that I have a full time job but I knew I would need to push myself hard to put in the time to help on this project.
We needed to cut many seed forms from a large and small template.
Next we needed to actually make these forms using masking tape and finally coating them with some wood glue to make them last and give them a certain look.
Next it was time to make the giant egg prototype; my other classmates had spent some time creating the wood cuts for it. Although we did not use it in the show I am sure it can be used in the future for another project. After we had constructed this first egg we all had an idea of how to construct this form for the big egg and later for the banana eggs.
I had also helped Gabriela cut some of the wood for the table she constructed. I didn't do the cutting but I got to see the proper usage of tools and help carry the heavy wood.
It was crucial to get the giant egg forms cut. A couple of us worked together to get the forms cut nicely and quickly
Next we had to construct parts of the large egg with reflective tape. And we ran into some trouble coming in the next day where the pieces didnt stick together probably due to the tape only sticking to the outer material and not stretching in to the inside. Alex and I had decided to tape the insides with strong black tape.
I was also a performer in Casa Lin as well as Kampong.
I'm very happy with how both shows turned out and I had the chance to help everyone out and learn new things together! Thanks guys!
